Collection: C O M I N G H O M E

COMING HOME is a collection of layered impasto abstracts, heavily textured and intuitively marked with oil sticks, charcoal, pastels and pencil. 

This body of work began as one painting for my own home. I wanted to create an abstract that would fit seamlessly in my mostly traditional style. I began exploring a new technique of layering thick yet muted colors with a matte, almost chalky finish, then scraping away at those layers only to build them up again and repeat the process. The result is artwork that has both a patina and a freshness, that feels timeless yet relevant, and belongs equally in traditional and modern spaces.

This process isn't easy but it felt effortless if that makes sense. One piece became twenty. I honestly had to force myself out of the studio at the end of every day (apparently there are people in my house that still want to be fed...).

I named the collection, 'Coming Home', because that's kinda what it felt like as I allowed myself to create freely. And the pieces are exactly how I want my home to feel- layered, warm, beautiful but not precious, timeless, inviting, always interesting, always comfortable, always with that sense of belonging..

I hope that comes through in each of these works.
